Steve came out the day I called to do a quick survey and discuss various options. He then got back to me quickly with a quote and answered any follow up questions I had. Ended up replacing the entire roof and 5 out of 6 skylights, all of which were showing their age. Although the job started a week or two after I expected, that was understandable due to inclement weather. Once started, the work progressed very quickly. Nice crew of guys; very professional looking outcome. Did a pretty decent job of cleaning up after the fact as well. Overall, I was very satisfied and would highly recommend!

Steve and the crew at H&J Roofing were great. I’ve had a recurring leak that we weren’t able to get to the bottom of. After getting a few different estimates to replace part of our roof, I called Steve after he was recommended by a friend. He came out quickly and gave us his recommendation and a competitive price. Steve and his crew were friendly and knowledgeable. They were able to match our roof shingles to existing colors to make sure everything matched nicely and completed the job quickly. Great quality of work and no more leaks! Would highly recommend H&J for any roofing needs!

Steve recognized the issue right away - that the caulking would dry out and without any flashing below the problem would come back. The work looks professional and matches the quality of the original build of the house. Other contracters were just going to put it back the way it was - leaving me back where I started in 5 years.

I was immediately impressed with Steve Dumas's experience and expertise. He spotted all the issues with our roof and explained how he was going to fix them. I was pleased to hear he was going to be able to do the job despite winter coming on fast. And he did. His seasoned crew worked very efficiently losing almost no time to extreme cold weather. They did the large flat "easy" roofs first, then the harder angled gables, and finally the cone turret and octagonal gazebo with new weathervane. I feel confident we have a better roof now than we ever had before. It is true -- his was not the lowest estimate we got, but as I did cut corners on the roofer last time and you do get what you pay for.

Steve came in at one of the better prices (but not the lowest) of the roofers we asked for estimates but he was definitely the most knowledgeable and professional of the roofers asked. Our roof is cedar and our roof line is complicated and Steve and his crew did a great job making sure everything was done correctly. His crew chief (forgot his name) is very professional and quickly brings up issues/problems and also makes sure they are resolved quickly and correctly. Very professional crew chief. The job was done essentially on time with no surprises. Only complaints are that (1) Steve is sometimes a little slow to respond to emails/texts and (2) Steve's crew didn't really help repair a 3rd story window as promised (that said, he made up for it by having his crew stop by to put in scaffold when we did find a carpenter to fix the window). Would recommend him to others.

Removed 2 layers of old roof and replaced complete roof. Overall excellent work. Like most contractors some communication time lags but was on time with the job and on quote. Additional work and materials required due to rotted plywood was fairly quoted. Would hire again.

Steve and his team did a great job. They were punctual, efficient and clean - all at a great price. They even hauled away some extra building material trash I had laying around for me. I only have one minor complaint - Steve was a little slow in responding to emails.

Fantastic! Steve was so responsive. We are moving and had a surprise leak in our roof. A timely fix was essential. Steve returned my call on the same day. He scheduled a visit to see the situation for the next day and was on time. Then scheduled the repairs for the following day and was on time again, did the repairs promptly, and charged a fair rate. We would give him an A+ if we could! He's a real professional.

Steve and his crew did an excellent job replacing part of my roof. Steve gave me an honest assessment of my roof and did not try to sell me more than I needed. I appreciate that he gave me several different options to solve my roofing problem. When the job started they were fast and efficient. They cleaned up very well and the roof looks great. I highly recommend them.

Immediate response. In my opinion, vendor went beyond what needed to be done. He had to tear off existing shingles (which would then require replacement) to see what the problem was. The original quote (based on what he surmised might be wrong [broken vent pipe allowing water to get in -- which turned out not to be the case]) was $400. Instead, it turned out to be shingles that had broken down allowing water to get under flashing. Work was considerably more than estimated: replace rotted plywood, put down a new membrane (of course, the new shingles). Additionally, he put down an extra rubber membrane around the fan and vent flashing to double ensure that this would not happen again. Replacing plywood was also unanticipated. Still honored his original quote. Extremely timely response from the time I called him to time work was completed. Very professional.

After a slow start, the folks at H&J showed up as promised and completed the job quickly, efficiently and in a very professional manner. The finished product looks very good. I will be checking my attic during the next storm to look for leaks, but based on the work done, I believe my problem has been remedied.

It went very well. He addressed every area that needed attention and covered under the "tune up" package. He also pointed out that the flashing around my chimney would need replacement soon. When I am ready to do that I will contact H&J.

I called Steve Dumas on 06/22/2013 (Saturday) and outlined the problem . He came on 06/24 to give me the estimate which was a pleasant surprise, and did the job on Thursday, 06/27. Most roofing companies are interested in big projects and wouldn't bother to take on small problems. Although the leakage on my roof was a small job, Steve took it seriously and fixed the problem fast. He has a positive attitude and a nice personality. I am a professional myself and appreciate professionalism in other people. Steve Dumas is highly professional. He exceeded my expectations. Without any second thought, I would recommend "H & J Roofing" to anybody.

We hired this contractor and he replaced our roof in March. Recently we had some heavy rain and noticed the gutters and down spouts were not graded properly. This was the first heavy rain since our new roof so it was difficult to now if we would have a problem until now. I emailed the owner Steve, and he responded within an hour saying he would come over and take a look. He was there within hours, looked to see what the problem was and said he needed to get some parts and would be back the next day. Sure enough, he was back and fixed everything within 24 hours of my call...no questions asked, no money, no problem. Very professional and I highly recommend him.

We are very satisfied with the workmanship of this contractor. The price was more than the estimate however, this was due to some structural damage they found upon doing the work. They started the job a few days after we expected however, once they started, they worked straight thru and did a good job.

They were a great company to work with! The process went very smoothly and as planned. They even went above and beyond to make sure everything was 100%, and were efficient. First, they established where the leak was by getting up on top of the roof with a hose. They watered down the entire roof to find out exactly where the leak was. They were professional and cost-effective. My neighbor, who’s a builder, recommended them and was also impressed. I didn’t have one problem and I would recommend them to others!

We called for an estimate and Steve was very accommodating to our schedule. He did an inspection of our roof and explained exactly what we would need. We had other estimates before Steve came out and we were so impressed that we signed the contract that day. He was able to start right away also and finished on time.

H&J Roofing submitted a competitive bid to re-roof our house, replace three large skylights and replace all gutters and downspouts. They were punctual and did an outstanding job. They removed the underlying roofing material and left the job site very neat each night during the process. I highly recommend Steve Dumas and his crew.
